Frequently asked questions
Can I tell if a recruiter opened my resume?
Not the PDF itself. Nothing can, because a PDF doesn't report back when someone opens it. What you can see is when someone clicks a link inside it, like your LinkedIn or portfolio. warmhop shows you those clicks and tells you if a real person made them.
Does a click mean they read my resume?
Pretty much. Someone had it open and liked it enough to click through. But no click doesn't mean no read. Plenty of recruiters read the whole thing and never click anything, so don't take silence as a no.
Do recruiters actually click links on resumes?
Some do, some don't. GitHub and portfolio links get opened the most, often once you're on a shortlist and someone wants a closer look. Put your best work behind the link they're most likely to open.
Will the recruiter see a weird-looking link?
No. They see whatever you wrote, like “LinkedIn” or “Portfolio”, and it takes them straight to your page. If they hover over it, they'll see a warmhop.com address, and warmhop.com/about-this-domain explains exactly what it is.
Are Bitly links on a resume a bad idea?
Usually, yes. A random short link could go anywhere, so recruiters and some email filters don't trust them. Keep the visible text obvious, like “GitHub” or “LinkedIn”, and make sure each link lands exactly where it says. That's how warmhop links work.
Do the links still work after I upload to Workday or Greenhouse?
Yes, when the recruiter opens your actual PDF. Some systems also show a plain-text copy of your resume. Clicks from that copy go straight to your profile, and we won't see them.
How is warmhop different from Bitly?
Two things. You upload your resume and we swap the links that are already in it, so your design stays exactly the same. And we sort the security bots from the people, so a scanner checking your link never shows up as a recruiter.
What happens to my links if I stop using warmhop?
Your call. Delete everything and the links stop working. Or keep them redirecting, so a resume you already sent never hits a dead link. If you keep them, we delete the click history and tags right away and remove the redirects after 12 months.
What's included in the warmhop Pro plan?
